Suzanne,

PJ5My favorite PJ's were from when I was a teenager. I had a one piece, zip-up pair of PJ's that were made of a quilted material. It was during the 70's when everyone was encouraged to save energy by turning down the thermostat at night. I was always so cold, so my mom found the solution with the quilted one-piece model. Worked like a charm. I sometimes wish I still had them, although they wouldn't fit now.

Attached is a photo of me on Mother's day in my PJ's for that day. I had to work the evening shift at the hospital the night before, so I slept in a bit the next morning.

I love reading your notes as much as the part of the books you are sending along. Thanks for this wonderful service! Nancy

I am definitly a top and bottom girl. The only thing I like about winter in Florida is I get to wear my flannel jammies. In the summer I wear short, jersey 2 pc. sets.
My favorite pjs were the old fashioned one piece footed pjs I found in the 1980's and wore when I was in my 20's. Strange but true. Thanks for leading me down memory lane

Between the ages of 10-17 I was hooked on footed fleece PJ's, you know the one piece pajamas with feet. Wearing those you were totally warm and like you were 4! Of course these were only for the winter months. The only reason I stopped wearing them is because they were getting too hard to find!

Now I just wear whatever I can find on clearance. Thanks Suzanne! Lyn

Christmas' were a bit slim at our house when I was a kid. My parents were raising 7 kids plus Dad supported a sister of his. But we could always count on getting a new pair of PJ's. Nice warm cotton ones, picked out just for each of us. Mine were usually either lavendar or pink, my favorite colors. We would open our gifts on Christmas Eve and would all run put on our new PJ's come back to the tree for cookies and cocoa and some years a second gift. Usually a doll or a paint by number. Just such a wonderful family time. Beth

Good morning, Suzanne! I love the idea of a Pajama Party! I started thinking about how my taste in bed attire has changed over the years. When I was young, newly married, I had a drawer full of skimpy, revealing and sexy nightgowns – hot pink, black lace, silky blue. I felt wonderful in them and, yes, my husband liked them too! But over the years the need for comfort and warmth have replaced those cute and sexy little nighties and I turned to long flannel night gowns and t-shirts paired with knit PJ bottoms . A few years ago, a neighbor came over with a box of clothes for one of my sisters. My sister & I went through them & anything she didn’t want we set aside to donate to a charity. In the bottom of the box there glittered a green satiny pair of pajamas. The bottoms were a solid, dark woodsy green and the top was a plaid with the same green and a dark, subtle purple. They were lined with a soft fabric. A radiance shone from those PJs! They were definitely not what my sister would wear even though the size was just perfect for her. My neighbor is taller and heavier than I am so I knew they wouldn’t fit, still I had to try them on. The legs and sleeves were far too long but what I felt when I put them on had nothing to do with size. I felt warm. Safe. Cocooned in luxury. I HAD to have those PJs! I thought, it’s easy to hem them and I can pull up the elastic in the waist to fit me. So I kept those pajamas! That was 3 years ago and I have yet to hem the legs and sleeves or to adjust the waist. I roll up the waist band like I used to do with too-long skirts when I was in high school and I also roll up the sleeves. It doesn’t matter that I never got around to altering them. Whenever I put them on, I feel like I did the day I tried them on. Warm. Safe. Wrapped in luxury.

With time, my waist has expanded (just a bit) so I don’t need to adjust the elastic waist. As I write this, I wonder why I have never taken the time shorten the legs and sleeves. If I feel so wonderful in them when they don’t exactly fit, how much more wonderful would I feel if they did fit? So, I think I’ll go home tonight, pull out the scissors and thread a needle and fix those pajamas! Blessings, Carol

My very first sleepover (with people not in my family) I wore a pink nightgown with strawberry shortcake and her friends on the front. I was in the 3rd grade. Learned at the party that there were several strawberry shortcake fans, but none of them had a nightgown. It was fun. Krista

Suzanne,

When I was a senior in high school and my sister was in college, my mom suprised us both one year for Christmas with adult sized footie PJs! We both loved them! I can't find any pictures of us in them now, but they were warm and toasty and it was fun to share that with each other in a time when we generally didn't get along. Thanks, Sam

Suzanne, I don't have any memories of my pajamas from childhood (fond or otherwise), but I do know that the ones I have now are flannel, really big, and only worn around the house. I find that it is difficult for a restless sleeper to wear pjs in bed. Too much bunching up and tugging down.

When it is time to get into the bed the pajamas wind up on the chair...and no one wants to see a picture of that!! Thanks for everything... Ruth
